Invigorating temperature contrasts
Sauna and Kneipp therapy - rituals for greater wellbeing
The sauna is a cultural heritage dating back several thousand years, with its origins in what is now Finland. Alongside providing warmth in cold climates and cleansing the body, health benefits have always been at its core: relieving pain, improving circulation and strengthening the immune system. A similar philosophy underpins the work of Sebastian Kneipp, the father of contrast bathing. By the way: a trip to the sauna isn't only recommended after a visit to the Merano Christmas market, but in every season.
The Finnish sauna is the classic option - hot (80- 90 °C) and dry (5-15%). We love it for stimulating circulation and supporting the immune system. Afterwards, cooling down and resting are recommended.
The bio sauna is a low-temperature sauna (55-60 °C) with moderate humidity (40-55%). It is popular with beginners, younger guests and anyone who prefers a gentler experience. For our infusions, we use herbs from our own garden.
The steam bath has temperatures between 45 and 48 °C and very high humidity (90-100%). It is particularly beneficial for the skin and respiratory system, providing deep hydration and care. Essential oils added to the steam enhance the effect.
Alternating warm and cold water treatments have a wide range of positive effects. In our Kneipp facility, you walk through knee-deep cold and warm water to strengthen the immune system and improve circulation and lymphatic flow.
